Big 1920s Moving Van
This huge moving van is our latest effort. It was inspired by the vintage model truck in the last image. We did not make a copy of the old one, which was probably mostly wood, but built our own van in a similar style, 100% from sheet steel. We will begin hand lettering appropriate graphics on this truck and to whatever extent possible will finish it to the buyer's specifications regarding name, etc. This huge truck is over two and a half feet long and fifteen inches high. The tires are five inches in diamater. Photo with the builder standing behind the truck is for size reference. The van body features a drop down ramp at the rear and movable wooden side posts. The price is $4,500 carefully packed and delivered anywhere in the 48 contiguous states.
Flivver Gravity Dump Coal Truck
About 20 years ago we made 24 Flivver gravity dump coal trucks. This dark green truck is number 16 and it has been in our personal collection ever since it was built. It has never been for sale until now. Condition is 99.9% (with possibly a tiny amount of dust). It comes with a load of black plastic coal which can be dumped by lowering the rear chute and raising the gate. The bottom of the truck is stamped with the number 16 of 24 and has a Cowdery Toyworks Flivver Series decal overlaid with a B. Cowdery signature decal. Downsizing has diminished our display space so this truck is available. This truck will come with a certificate stating what it is. The price is $1,500 carefully packed and shipped anywhere in the 48 contiguous states.
Yellow Cab Express Truck
Kelmet has always been one of our favorite pressed steel truck makers. This big 23 inch long custom Yellow Cab Express truck utilizes a Kelmet hood, front fenders, front axle, and disc wheels with real rubber tires. The frame, rear axle, and opening door screen body were fabricated to complete the 1920s look. The roof is wrinkle finished to simulate a fabric top. This truck is one of a kind and the bottom is signed and marked 1 of 1 and dated 2026. The price is $2,500 carefully packed and shipped anywhere in the contiguous 48 states.
Carnation Milk Electric Delivery Truck
This big milk truck is a hefty 10 pounds and 9 ounces of sheet steel. It measures about 15 inches long, 11 inches high, and 9 inches wide. The big 4 1/4" wheels are from a 1920s Buddy L truck. This Carnation truck features steerable front wheels and doors that slide open and closed on the inside of the body just like the real thing. The bottom is stamped one of a kind, but stampings are hard to read through the white paint so it's also marked 1/1 with paint under the signature. We've added a photo showing the milk truck next to a soup can for size comparison. The last picture shows a vintage tractor trailer rig hauling several such electric city delivery milk trucks. The price is $2,175 carefully packed and shipped anywhere in the lower 48 states.
Carved Panel Hearse
After creating more than 1,000 Flivvers we have brought this chapter of our history to a close. We thought a carved panel hearse would be a good way to end this series of vehicles. At sixteen inches in length it makes the original hand built centerdoor sedan look petite. We look forward to some new and interesting vehicles and other projects! The hearse has been sold.
Stakebed Farm Truck
This sixteen inch long stakebed farm truck comes with a bag of flour, a wooden barrel, a cream can, and a wood crate. This big truck is the next-to-last Flivver to be built. We had 5,000 spoked wheels cast in the early 1980s and there are only four left. After building more than 1,000 Flivver type vehicles over the last 43 years, it's time to close this chapter and go on to some other interesting custom built vehicles. The stakebed truck has been sold.
1930 House Car
This 20 inch long vehicle represents a house car of the type seen on American roads in the 1920s and 1930s. It features a detailed interior with bunk beds, booth, stove, shelving, sink, and cabinets. In addition to the driver's seat, it has a folding jump seat for a passenger. It has a spare tire mounted to the back porch on a bracket which also holds a license plate and taillight. Only two Flivvers remain to be built. The house car has been sold.
City Delivery Moving Van
This piece is a 15 inch long city type moving van with opening back doors. It is one of the last of over 1,000 Flivver type vehicles we have created since the early 1980s. There are only three Flivvers remaining to be built. This truck has been sold.
1920s Wrecker with Weaver Boom
This wrecker is intended to be similar to many that were built back in the 1920s and 1930s by taking a truck or big luxury car and adding a homebuilt wrecker bed. We tried to make this one to look like it has a vintage Weaver wrecker mechanism. This is one of the last of many Flivver type vehicles we have created over the past 43 years. This truck has been sold.
Mills Novelty Company Slot Machine Delivery Van
This is one of the last six Flivvers we will be creating. This slot machine delivery truck is just under 16" long. It features a cart and four slot machines. The top of both the cab and the van body are both wrinkle finished to simulate a fabric top like the real trucks of that time. There are only five Flivvers left to build. This truck has been sold.
1 Ton Lumber Truck
This is one of the last seven Flivver size vehicles we will be creating. This one is a lumber truck, 16" long (including the load of lumber). Photos show this piece from several angles. The top of the cab has been coated with a wrinkle finish to simulate the fabric top a real truck from that time period would have had. We will only make six more vehicles, all different, of this size. None of the last six will be a lumber truck. The last two photos show how the unloading crank folds. The lumber truck has been sold.
1 Ton Gilmore Oil Company Tank Truck
One of the most recent pieces is a 15 inch long 1 ton Gilmore Oil Company tank truck. It has a divided windshield, dual wheels, headlights and cowl lights, making it look more like a big truck. Photos show this piece from several angles. The top of the cab has been coated with a wrinkle finish to simulate the fabric top a real truck from that time period would have had. We will only make seven more vehicles, all different, of this size. None of the last seven will be a tank truck. We have only 28 wheels left so no more of the last vehicles will have dual wheels. The Gilmore truck has been sold.
Twin Coach Helms Bakery Truck
We only made 12 of these neat trucks. They measure 13 inches in length by 7-1/2 inches tall. Each one has a serial number stamped in the bottom. The last Helms Bakery truck has been sold.
1920s Life Saver Advertising Truck
This truck is based on a vintage photo showing a real truck used in the 1920s to promote Life Saver candy. This piece is 17 inches long and a little over 7 inches high. There were only six of these made. Each one has a serial number stamped into the bottom. The last LifeSaver truck has been sold.
1920s House Car
This piece was part of an exhibit in an art museum. It was selected to be part of an international juried show called Toys Designed by Artists at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock. The house car is about 23" long and 12" tall. The interior is equipped with features such as bunk beds, stove, booth, and many other details. The House Car has been sold.
Gypsy Fortune Teller's Truck & Caravan
This colorful truck and caravan measure approximately 30" in length when they're hitched together. Separately, the caravan is about 12" long and the truck is about 13" long. The bed of the truck is filled with trunks, luggage, and other items. The top lifts off the caravan to reveal a detailed interior with bed, sink, mirror, table, chair, stove, cupboard, and even a tiny crystal ball. Truck & Caravan are sold.
City Dray Truck
This truck literally screams Vintage Workhorse. At nearly 15" in length and over 8" in height, it's larger than many of the other early trucks we've done. The full height tailgate drops down to become a loading ramp. There were only six serial numbered pieces made. Hood, fenders, and chassis are done in black, bodies were painted dark blue and dark green. All of the City Dray trucks have been sold.
